They are hiring full-time dressers, entertainers, as well as the costume shop manager posted earlier, in preparation for their opening day June 1. They have tryouts for entertainers on February 24. Their full season will run from February through New Years; this year it would be June 1 through New Years. They plan to have four stages with shows and other entertainment in the park. The jobs are posted on their website, http://www.bonfantegardens.com. They do not need extra costumed people for atmosphere (sorry, GBACG) but they will have a group sales office in the near future who can discuss renting space for events. I suspect it might make a good setting for a Vauxhall event, recreating the pleasure gardens of 18th century London. This is a family-oriented park emphasizing gardens and wholesome entertainment. I encourage everyone to check out the website. You can sign up for email updates. They are planning a major publicity campaign later this spring. I promised to send this out as widely as I could. Hilary and Cathleen, could you please share with Fezziwigs and PEERS? People who don't have web acesss should call Pete Adams directly at 408-840-7148. I am very excited about this new prospect, however, there are many challenges on the horizon. On Sunday, April 22nd, beginning at 10am City Lights is conducting a major fundraiser, a Walk-a-Thon. One of my first ventures as pending AD is to encourage as many people as possible to participate. City Lights has been a strong presence in the South Bay theatre community since the early 80's, it would really be a blow to the entire scene if the company were to succumb to increasing overhead costs. We NEED the help and assistance of as many people as possible in order to help keep the company afloat. Any small contribution or effort would be greatly appreciated. Please resist complacency. There are two ways to contribute: Become a walker - Teams of around 8-12 will be walking as a group from start to finish. Team themes and silly hats are highly encouraged, but by no means necessary. We're asking each walker to target contibutions from friends, family and co-workers totaling $250 dollars. You can form your own team by recruiting some friends. Or we can assign you one. I'd like to make it as easy as possible for you to contribute. Simply respond to me and I'll take care of getting you a walk packet or you can sign-up through the website listed below. Be a donor - If you'd prefer to donate. Any amount would be appreciated. Simply resond to this e-mail with a pledge (tax-deductable) along with your address and phone number and I'd be happy to sign you up. Or pledge someone else if you like, whatever works for you. The walk will include some prizes and other festive stuff--meet, frolic, connect, network, etc--and should be a pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning/afternoon. You can find out more information at the website: http://www.cltc.org/ Thanks for your attention everyone. I hope you're all well. Sincerely, Tom Gough P.S. We are looking to cast the role of Panthino for Shady Shakespeare's Free Shakespeare in the Park summer production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona. For anyone who does not know us, this is Shady Shakespeare's third season and our fourth production. We are taking a big step forward by offering free Shakespeare in the park this year. Panthino is the servant to Antonio, who is the father of Proteus (one of the said two gentlemen). Panthino is just as much friend and confidant to Antonio as he is servant. He is also quite opinionated and, when allowed to speak, tends to run on at the mouth (a really fun thing for someone who wants to come in and create a fun little character). This is a small, supporting role (3 scenes). I'm looking for a man, preferably 30s and older (or who at least looks that). This person does not have to have Shakespeare experience, but should be excited about being in this show and joining our company for the summer. Rehearsals are Mon-Thurs 7-10pm, Sun 10am-1pm, starting June 25. Performances are August 10-12, 17-19, 24-26 (7pm each night) at the Mountain View Community Center Amphitheatre.
