Santa Clara University's School of Law and City Lights Theatre Company, in =
conjunction with the Northern California Innocence Project, has secured =
the=20
rights to do a staged reading of Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen's current =
off-Broadway hit play - "The Exonerated" - for one night only on Monday, =
April=20
21, 2003. (Visit the website of the New York's production at=20
http://www.45bleecker.com/exonerated.html)

Taken verbatim from court transcripts, depositions and interviews, "The =
Exonerated" tells the stories of six former death row inmates who were =
wrongly convicted of murder. These individuals spent from two to twenty=20
years on death row before they were finally released with evidence of =
innocence. "The Exonerated" has been performed with celebrity studded =
casts in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.=20

This fundraising performance is to benefit the Northern California =
Innocence Project. NCIP works within an educational framework to exonerate =
indigent California prisoners and to pursue legal reforms that address the =
causes of wrongful conviction. The performance, with an excellent cast of =
veteran Bay area actors, is produced and directed by the City Lights =
Theater Company of San Jose.

Over the past decade, more than 100 wrongfully convicted people have been =
freed from prisons in the United States, due to the work of law schools, =
journalists, public and private defenders and others. Of the people=20
exonerated, at least 10 were on death row. No one knows how many innocent =
people have already been executed. Come see "The Exonerated" and help =
support the cause to free the actual innocent.
