Pan Theater's Advanced Improv Lab, beginning September 8th still has four space left. The lab is designed for those with previous improv (theater) training looking to take their work to the next level.

The ongoing workshop is taught by Doug Kassel:

IMPROV SCENE LAB
Practice. Practice. Practice. Perform improvised scenes and get immediate constructive feedback. Make your scene work more varied, interesting and successful. Discover elements and methods of successful scene work in order to work better with your partner, make the strongest choices and break bad habits. Exercises may be introduced to illustrate various principles, but the main focus will be on open scene work. The lab is taught by Doug Kassel (see below).

DOUG KASSEL studied with Viola Spolin at The Second City in Chicago during the writing of her ground-breaking Theater Games book, Improvisation For The Theater. He performed with Spolin’s Playmakers, The Game Theater and Paul Sills’ Story Theater. He also studied the work of Del Close, the creator of the seminal long-form piece “The Harold.”

Doug has over 30 years experience in improvisational theater. He was Creative Director and a founding member of San Francisco’s longest-running 100% improvisational theater company, Flash Family. In addition, he was Workshop Director for two episodic long-form cult hits, “Liquid Soap” and “Emotional Hospital.” He has also directed countless student companies at ImprovWorks.

Since 1982, he has also taught with Cliff Osmond, Drama Studio London /USA, Sue Walden & Co. and Kids on Camera, among others. Doug also has numerous regional and national acting credits.

Register Today, space is limited to eight performers (four spaces remaining as of 8/21/2003).
