Hey guys!
As you know, it is quite difficult to get an LA theatrical agent, especially
while living in San Francisco. In fact, some actors who have already moved to
Los Angeles come up empty handed after many years of trying to obtain
representation. Wouldn't it be great to know what Los Angeles theatrical agents really
expect from actors and to know what the best way to garner their interest
would be? First Take has been inviting LA talent agents up to San Francisco to
share their knowledge during information packed weekend classes.
We only put these Agent Weekends together a few times a year with the next
one coming up on September 20th &21st with not just one, but 2 Film and
Television Talent Agents from LA! These agents are currently representing actors
between the ages of 8 and 80 years old and they are always looking for new talent.
One of them has already picked up many of our First Take students and has
been instrumental in helping our students book shows like "ER," "Boston Public,"
"Alias," and many more. And though there is no guarantee that participants in
the class will be picked up by our guests, the question and answer format and
current information that these guests offer are invaluable in formatting a
plan to break into the LA film and TV market.
OK, it gets better. From all the notices, e-mails and word of mouth about
the programs, classes and guest teachers/lecturers that we put together for the
Bay Area, would you honestly expect to bring anything less then the best? One
of the agents that we are bringing up is not only extremely successful and
talented, but also brings experience as an LA casting director. With this
experience in casting, our guest brings an even deeper knowledge of what is needed
in casting situations and is able to teach more effectively acting technique
as well as the business aspect of the industry. And so the weekend will offer a
wide range of things that are so important to actors that are even
considering getting competitive and working. The morning sessions will consist of
lecture and question and answer. You will have to the opportunity to find our ask
advice about how to get an LA Agent and what the best way to approach them is.
This is an incredible opportunity to pick the brain of two successful LA
agents. The afternoons will consist of her coaching actors in scene work, so you'll
get to hear their feedback as well. This will be team taught with Nancy
Berwid.
At this point you're probably wondering, bored and/or annoyed that I haven't
mentioned who this guest is. Unfortunately, SAG restrictions prohibit us from
printing the name of any franchised talent agents teaching a class. But don't
be misled. This class is sure to fill up fast since this is a rare
opportunity for us to have an agent as a guest.
As you might imagine, with the success that our students have gotten from
these classes, the spots will go quickly. Contact us as soon as possible to
reserve a spot in this exciting class!
