Do you have a passion for theatre? Would you like to do research on
local theatre companies? Are you an organized mastermind with research
skills and an eye for detail? Do you want hands-on experience working at
the heart of the Bay Area's thriving theatre scene? If your answer to
all these questions is a resounding "YES", then Theatre Bay Area is
looking for you. We need emerging theatre professionals to intern in the
three following areas: annual publications, Callboard magazine and
executive assistance. Descriptions of the three different opportunities
are below:
Annual Publications Intern: As a publications intern, you will help us
compile some of the most sought after annual publications. You'll be
right in the middle of all the action, making phone calls to managers
and directors of the Bay Area's top theatre companies and learning about
format and design from the staff of Callboard magazine.
allboard Magazine Intern: Duties will include compiling the audition,
job and playwrights opportunities listings, as well as entering
production listings on TBA's Web site. May include other writing
opportunities for the right person. This is a good position for someone
who is already familiar with the local theatre community and has strong
PC, Microsoft and Web skills.
Executive Assistance Intern: In this position, you'll work one on one
with our new executive director supporting TBA's Board development,
fundraising and strategic planning. This will be a great learning
opportunity for someone starting a career in the world of arts
administration.
All three interns will also get to attend our Annual Theatre Company
Meeting and Reception, a full-day event with discussions on the issues
facing local theatre professionals and keynote speakers ranging from
ACT's Carey Perloff to the San Francisco mayoral candidates.
Applicants should have a strong desire to learn about the Bay Area
theatre community, outstanding organizational and research abilities, a
great telephone demeanor and proven word possessing and computer skills.
These internships will be for 15-20 hours per week for approximately
three months. (Time frame could be extended for up to a year depending
on applicant interest.) Stipend to be determined.
To apply, please send a one-page letter indicating which internship you
are interested in and describing your relevant experience, background
and reasons for interest (plus a resume if possible) to:
