Shooting Live Performance Video That's Actually Enjoyable to Watch

Many theatre companies and performers find out too late that video
documentation of their work is plagued by dark, grainy images, scratchy
sound and shaky camera moves. Because video archives are essential for =
grant
applications, demo reels and documentation, they should be planned with =
as
much care as you would a performance. Whether you shoot video yourself =
or
hire professionals, this class will give you a basic understanding of =
the
technical and aesthetic issues in creating a viewable, even =
entertaining,
video. Topics include digital video and audio; shooting with multiple
cameras; shooting for editing vs. shooting for documentation; shooting
dance, theatre and opera; authoring DVDs; and video for the Internet.
Demonstrations will explore the tradeoffs between consumer and =
professional
video and audio equipment. We will also discuss the integration of video
projection in live performance. Flying Moose Pictures is a local video
production company founded by Jonathan Luskin and Mark Leialoha. They =
have
documented live performance throughout the Bay Area and produce and =
direct
digital video for music and corporate communications. They produce and
direct theatre with The Angst Ensemble. Location: Flying Moose Pictures,
3435 Cesar Chavez, Suite 316, San Francisco. Registration starts: July =
