I am VERY excited to announce our next guest that will be coming up from LA
to teach in the Bay Area: John Levey, CSA! John is currently casting three of
the hottest episodics on TV right now: "ER", "The West Wing" and "Third
Watch"! He brings with him some of the richest casting experience in the business
after having cast these shows for so long which is sure to make this class an
awesome experience for the actors attending.
John is someone that we've been trying to get up here for quite a while.
Someone with the career experience that he has is a dream to have up to teach for
us. In the past, John has been reluctant to teach any kind of class and
getting him to come up to the Bay Area has not been easy. But after hearing the
buzz about First Take's classes, the positive experiences of other casting
directors who have taught classes for us of the work ethic that the actors have,
he's agreed to come up and teach for us. We're thrilled beyond words at the
opportunity this presents for all actors to learn from one of LA's premier
casting directors.
During the weekend, John will be teaching and lecturing on a variety of
topics including his own industry perspective, things that stand out and really
make a good audition great, demystifying the process, ways to market yourself in
the industry and what goals to shoot for, ways to strengthen your professional
relationships within the industry, differences in casting procedure from
project to project, office etiquette, open question and answer, as well as working
on scene and audition technique, cold reading, and talking about head-shots
and resumes for the actors attending. In the past, the classes that we've had
taught by casting directors and industry exec's have been tremendous
opportunities for actors to get unique opinions and perspectives on how actors can
improve all the aspects of the acting industry. It has also presented actors with
an incredible forum to receive feedback from the best about their acting
craft.
Do not expect that this class will be available for long. We've already had
people who are regular students of ours in our 8 Week Audition Class reserve
spots in this weekend class that will be taught by John. The few spots that
are remaining are sure to get snatched up quickly. Don't be one to miss out on
this rare opportunity. Contact us now to find out more information about
signing up for this class!

* This is not a job interview or audition. The presence of a casting director
is neither a guarantee nor a promise of employment. The intent of the class
is solely educational. Attending a Workshop is not a way to obtain employment
as an actor. Such contact as you may have with a casting director at a workshop
rarely results in any further contact with that casting director or any
company affiliated with that casting director.
