Costume Swap Meet
Bring your old approvable costume bits, set out your tarp and sell your
stuff at lunchtime the first weekend of workshops. Or donate bits you are no
longer using to AYLI.... or do both! Contact Kathy Kingman if you are
interested at costumes@themeevents.com an we'll post further info in the
next missive.
Bloomers-Bloomers-Bloomers
Ever wonder what to do with your old, no-longer-used bloomers? The
bloomers with torn lace, the bloomers with patches sewn on top of patches,
the bloomers with soot from groping chimney sweeps that just won't come
clean.
We have a home for them. We're working on a new backdrop along the side
of Mad Sal's stage and YOU CAN HELP!
Donate your unused bloomers and ruffle panties to the costume department
during workshops. They will be sewn together to create a new backdrop that
will be visual history of all the 'awfully jolly girls' of Charles Dickens
London. Please bring them to workshops and Kathy will have a box for
donations. You can bring old petticoats as well, so we can fill in the extra
spaces where the bloomers don't reach.... I hate it when that happens.
Central London Telegraph is Recruiting Now!!
Do you want to go everywhere and know everyone? Have ladies (and other
women!) welcome you and gentlemen make way for you? Do you enjoy being the
center of attention? Then consider joining Central London Telegraph, a
Dicken's Fair tradition, as a Telegraph Boy! We're looking for men from
16 to 60 (in the finest telegraph tradition) who want to be one of the
louder
parts of the life of the Fair! (must be able to read).
Or if you'd rather have the Dicken's Fair come to you-- and tell you all
it's secrets and best gossip-- consider joining Central London Telegraph in
the office as a clerk or a scrib. If you're interested, please contact
Virginia Lyons during Workshops or via email at yonsv@earthlink.net (using
Central London Telegraph in the Subject line).
Cheap Hoops AgainContact Annie Lore at mminentIdea@aol.com to order your
hoopskirt; you'll get a price list when you email. These come from a
wholesale-only hoop company in Petaluma not far from her called Lace
Memories (Ph.800
206-5878), so anyone with a resale number can deal directly if they
wish-- no minimum order, either. Since it's easy for Annie to pick these up
and bring them to the Cow Palace, other wholesale purchasers can save on
shipping by having their hoops brought down with Annie's orders.
The Return of Twinkleton Young Ladies Needed
Yes, once again the headmistress of the "School With Frills" will be
shepherding her young ladies through London. However, this is not Annie
Lore's original Ariadne Twinkleton, but her sister Artemisia, played this
year for the first time by the delightful Diana Young-Peak. Miss Twink's
Young Ladies will promenade through the streets behind her like a line of
dear little ducklings, being Very Correct as they look in at shops and
shows, exchanging greetings with socially-acceptable persons they meet,
and taking tea. This is a very amusing and memorable visual, and is sure to
attract a great deal of notice. Costumes are provided.
Be a Fairy!
Miss Twinkleton's girls, being the daintiest and most poised of all
young ladies, will also be groomed to appear as some of the Fairy Queen's
followers in the Stark Ravens' wonderful Christmas Pantomime at the V&A,
should they be so inclined. Interested young ladies of about 13 to 20
years of age should contact Annie
Lore at ImminentIdea@aol.com.
African Tribal King Needed
For a novelty act in the V&A Music Hall show.
Needed: someone to play a magnificent visiting African monarch (I supply
plumes and pelts, you supply the Presence) at the V&A. You can be a regal
elder statesman type or a gorgeous young hunk, the main thing is to be very
poised and dignified. There are no spoken lines planned at present. This
would be performed two or three times a day. There are obvious possibilities
for appearances at the Adventurers' Club, but bear in mind we
don't want overexposure to spoil the onstage effect!
Interested gentlemen should contact Annie Lore at ImminentIdea@aol.com.

OT: Casting Notice in Marin
Ken Malucelli forwards the following: P.S. Rita, and Stan Sinberg (who's
also a humorist for the Pacific Sun, etc), the writers, are very dear
friends of mine; and for you Trivia buffs: Who remembers that "cute" little
children's song from the '60s (or was it the '70s?) called "Miiillll
Valleeeeeey!", that was on radio and TV from coast to coast? Guess which
one wrote it? :-D
<Note from Cat: It was Rita... I grew up in Mill Valley>
Marin's long-running musical comedy revue, FOR WHOM THE BRIDGE TOLLS, is
seeking new talent for its new season. Starting New Year's Eve, we'll be
running weekends at Giorgio's Restaurant and Night Club in Greenbrae (the
former Joe LoCoco's where we began nine years ago), with more
engagements to follow.
We need non-Equity people who may be either regulars or alternates. So
if you're super-talented and funny with a great singing voice, we'd like to
audition you, this Saturday morning, if possible. This will pay respectable
wages.
Please call Rita at (415) 383-2368, or Buzz at (415)258-0765.
Thanks so much!
