Class Description:
Learn the acting technique that revolutionized American Theater. Meisner=20

Beginning and Advanced Students:
This class takes both the beginner and seasoned performer through the basic=20
techniques and foundation work developed by Sanford Meisner. Learn the same=20
techniques that have made the Neighborhood Playhouse one of America's premie=

acting academies.=20

Meisner Trained Performers:
Meisner trained performers include: Robert Duvall, Joanne Woodward, Jon=20
Voight, Gregory Peck, Diane Keaton, Steve McQueen, Jeff Goldblum, and Tony R=
andall.=20
 This class makes both improvised and scripted work stronger, deeper and mor=
e=20
emotionally charged. Starting with the famous repetition exercise- you=E2=
=80=99ll be=20
charged to be fully in the moment. You will learn to stop censoring and to=20
respond authentically to both yourself and your scene partners. The course i=

Instructor:

Christy English-Butcher's passion for acting began as a young girl. She bega=
n=20
to read about The =E2=80=98Meisner=E2=80=99 technique and became fascinated=20=
by this=20
=E2=80=98honest=E2=80=99 way of acting. Sanford Meisner selected Christy and=
 fifty others out of a=20
pool of 3500 applicants from LA, New York, San Francisco, Chicago to study w=

Sandy on the island of Bequia in the West Indies. Christy continued studying=

with Sandy for over four years in his private classes. Christy has been in=20
numerous theatre productions and has been the lead in many independent films=
