Open Tryouts Euripides' "The Trojan Women" at Foothill College
The Foothill College Drama Department announces open auditions for
Euripides' drama, "The Trojan Women," to be held Monday, September 22 and
Wednesday, September 24, 7-9:30 p.m. in the Foothill Pavilion, room 1301,
Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. No appointments
are necessary; please try not to arrive later than 9pm. Callbacks will
be scheduled Thursday evening, September 25.
The classic Greek tragedy will be presented in an exciting modern
interpretation. The version/translation by Jean-Paul Sartre is the
likely choice, though exploration of other translations is still ongoing
and will be determined before auditions begin September 22. The theme of
war and its ultimate folly keenly affected Euripides, when his beloved
and democratic Athens invaded and subjugated Melos. The theme is as
timeless today.
"The Trojan Women" is directed by Jay Manley, with settings designed by
Joe Ragey and costumes designed by Amy Zsadanyi-Yale. Performances will
be presented November 7-23. Rehearsals will be held weekday evenings and
some weekend days, beginning September 27.
