CONTEMPORARY MASTERS SERIES: LIZ DUFFY ADAMS 
a workshop in playwriting with a Master playwright

Liz Adams is a playwright the Bay Area LOVES!  A New York writer, her play 'The Train Play or The Reckless Ruthless Brutal Charge Of It' was premiered to RAVE reviews by Crowded Fire Theater Company in 2002, directed by Rob Melrose (Cutting Ball Theatre), and her play "Dog Act"  had a wildly enthusiatic reception to its staged reading as part of the Bay Area Playwrights Festival in 2002 -- and will most likely premiere somewhere in the Bay Area in 2004 (it's still a secret!).  Right now she's back in town to work with us on our first ever co-commission, for which she will create a new play specifically for the Crowded Fire Theater Company's ensemble of actors, in which we will participate as a partner in the development process.

She is a wonderful artist and teacher, and we wanted YOU to be able o take advantage of her talent and expertise while she's here. 

We're offering a LAST MINUTE weekend workshop on Sat/Sun, September 27 & 28, 10:30am-2:30pm
The cost is only $125 for the WHOLE WEEKEND!!!!!

Exploiting and exploding "the well-made play:" Structure in playwriting.

>From the Greeks to Shakespeare to Mac Wellman‹and points in between‹there are endless‹and endlessly thrilling‹possibilities in response to the question: What is a play? We¹ll explore some of them, looking at models for theatrical structure, playing with the possibilities, experimenting with form and content, linking ideas, story, character to language and structure.

Liz Duffy Adams' plays include Dog Act, The Train Play or The Reckless Ruthless Brutal Charge Of It, A Wrinkle In Time, A Fabulous Beast and Aphra Does Antwerp, and have been seen at PS 122, Ohio Theater, Syracuse Stage and the Women¹s Project among other places. The Train Play was produced in fall 2002 by Crowded Fire at the Exit Theater in San Francisco. Her Poodle With Guitar and Dark Glasses was published in Applause¹s "Best American Short Plays 2000-2001." She is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and a member of New Dramatists.
