CASTING NOTICE
***PLEASE FORWARD/POST WIDELY***
Planned Parenthood Golden Gate is looking for at least 9 women and 2 to 3 men to perform in a production of the play Jane by Paula Kamen, about the underground abortion collective of the same name that operated in the 1960's and early 1970's in Chicago. This is a great opportunity to help raise awareness about how powerful it can be when women organize and take control of their bodies and destinies. No pay / Non-Union.
PPGG will be producing the play for one night only, January 22nd, which is the 32nd Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in America. We are looking for performers who are:
*pro-choice and proud of it
*have experience working on a tight schedule
*can volunteer 5 hours or more per week from now until January 22nd
CAST BREAKDOWN
Jane has flexible casting with many roles available. Actors of all races and ethnicities, ages, and body types are encouraged to apply for audition. All actors will be asked to play small roles in the ensemble in addition to one main character, and/or may be asked to play more than one supporting character.
Women
2 African-American women, one in late teens/early 20s; the other mid 30s - mid 40s
3 women in their late teens / early 20s -- at least one is white.
3 women in their late 20s -- at least one is white
At least 1 woman, of any race or age
Men
1 African-American man, in his late 40s - late 50s
1 white man, in early 20s - early 30s
1 man of any race, early 30s - early 40s
