Are you secretly (or not so secretly) worried that you suck at auditioning?
Or are you just starting out and want to look like at pro at your next round
of auditions?
Melissa Hillman, Artistic Director of Impact Theatre, will give an audition
workshop on Saturday, March 13, 12-3PM, at La Val's Subterranean Theatre in
Berkeley.
We'll work on choosing and performing monologues, audition etiquette (how not
to look like a total dork), audition dos and don'ts (things auditioners
neeeeeeever want to see again) and spiffing up your resume.
The cost is only $50.00 (special student discount price--$35.00 with valid
student ID). To sign up, email impacttheatre@aol.com. Space is limited, so
please sign up now!
Melissa Hillman has spent many years on "the other side of the table." She
has been directing shows in the Bay Area since 1988. Melissa was Associate
Artistic Director of Impact Theatre from 1996-2000, and has been Artistic
Director since 2000. She has a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in Dramatic Art, and has
taught at universities all over the Bay Area, as well as the Berkeley Repertory
School of Theatre.

Subject: [BATA] voice lessons available from musical theatre actor
Message-ID: <20040302201340.18207.qmail@web14010.mail.yahoo.com>
I teach private voice lessons, specializing in
beginning-intermediate level singers, as well as
specifically actors learning to sing (transferring an
actor's vocabulary to that of the singing voice). I
will work with you on proper breathing techniques,
singing open vowels, articulation, projection, and
interpretation skills, as well as helping to increase
your confidence. Beginners are welcome!
My rates are inexpensive: $45 for an hour, $30 for a
half hour, or if you want to pre-pay, $160 for four
weeks (four hours). I’ll also consider trade of
services.
Please contact me at starkeee@yahoo.com, or
415-359-3008, if you are interested in taking a lesson
or for more information. I teach out of the South of
Market area of San Francisco. Serious inquiries
only, please.
---
Eric Starker moved to San Francisco from Seattle in
January of 2003. He is a busy singer and actor, and
has performed extensively in roles in musicals and
operettas in professional theatres throughout San
Francisco and Seattle. He is currently appearing in a
staged reading of the musical Two Words Three Letters,
and music directing a show at Jewish Commuity High
School. Most recently Eric appeared as the title
character in Moonwatcher at A Traveling Jewish Theatre
this December. He also recently appeared as Blaine
Rogers in the musical “Roberta” with 42nd Street Moon
(starring Kathryn Crosby, Bing Crosby’s widow), and as
the Professor in “South Pacific” with the Willows
Theatre Company (both professional Equity theatre
companies). He received his BA in Theatre from
Whitman College, with a minor in music, and has
studied voice privately for a number of years with
top-notch performers (his most recent teacher appeared
in Imaginary Friends on Broadway and is in the
national tour of Urinetown, which started at A.C.T.).
He also is classically trained and has experience with
choral performance. In addition to his students here,
he taught private voice lessons successfully in the
Seattle area, and excellent references are available
upon request.

Dear Theater Performer:
The SF Theater Festival is moving forward and is seeking additional=20
performance participants in the festival, including solo performance=20
artists and children's presentations, as well as adult ensemble pieces.
(Some 35 theater companies have recently indicated their intention to=20
participate, including the Magic Theatre, Lamplighters, Woman=92s Will,=20=
Fools Fury, 42 Street Moon, SF Shakes, etc. (go to=20
www.sftheaterfestival.org for a fuller list).
The festival will take place at Yerba Buena Gardens on two consecutive=20=
Sundays, July 25 and Aug.1, 2004, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Aug. 1 date is=20=
primarily devoted to The Mime Troupe performance. There are no fees to=20=
participate.
Let me delineate the value and significance of this festival:
1.It is solely dedicated to showcasing and drawing attention to the Bay=20=
Area=92s Theater!
2. It will expose each theater group to new audiences.
3. You will have the opportunity to distribute marketing materials to=20
theatergoers at tables set up for the purpose, and at your performance.
4. A diverse groups of theater-interested adults, and families with=20
children, will attend (we project 2-4,000), making for an excellent=20
opportunity for marketing all kinds of theater as well as related=20
activities such as acting schools, casting directors, etc.
5. You will gain visibility in the festival promotional materials and=20
ads.
6. You will be joining your colleagues in a large-scale collaborative=20
effort to inject new life into the Bay Area theater scene. While you=20
compete all year for grants, audience, publicity, actors, etc., this=20
festival is our chance to work together on the same team!
Please contact me with any questions or concerns or special needs.
I hope you will choose to be part of this great collaborative effort=20
not only because it is in your own best interests, but because it is in=20=
the larger interest of promoting theatergoing in the Bay Area.

ArialDear Theater Performer:
The SF Theater Festival is moving forward and is seeking additional
performance participants in the festival, including solo performance
artists and children's presentations, as well as adult ensemble pieces.
(Some 35 theater companies have recently indicated their
intention to participate, including the Magic
Theatre, Lamplighters, Woman=92s Will, Fools Fury, 42 Street Moon, SF
Shakes, etc. (go to
=
1998,1998,FFFEwww.sftheaterfestival.org=
color>
for a fuller list).
The festival will take place at Yerba Buena Gardens on two consecutive
Sundays, July 25 and Aug.1, 2004, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Aug. 1 date
is primarily devoted to The Mime Troupe performance. There are no fees
to participate.
Let me delineate the value and significance of this festival:
1.It is solely dedicated to showcasing and drawing attention to the
Bay Area=92s Theater!
2. It will expose each theater group to new audiences.
3. You will have the opportunity to distribute marketing materials to
theatergoers at tables set up for the purpose, and at your performance.
4. A diverse groups of theater-interested adults, and families with
children, will attend (we project 2-4,000), making for an excellent
opportunity for marketing all kinds of theater as well as related
activities such as acting schools, casting directors, etc.
5. You will gain visibility in the festival promotional materials and
ads.
6. You will be joining your colleagues in a large-scale collaborative
effort to inject new life into the Bay Area theater scene. While you
compete all year for grants, audience, publicity, actors, etc., this
festival is our chance to work together on the same team!
Please contact me with any questions or concerns or special needs.=20
I hope you will choose to be part of this great collaborative effort
not only because it is in your own best interests, but because it is
in the larger interest of promoting theatergoing in the Bay Area.

Message-ID:
Pay what you can this weekend, Thurs-Sat, March 4-6!
The Marsh presents...
THE FULA FROM AMERICA: AN AFRICAN JOURNEY
Written and performed by Carlyle Brown
Directed by Louise Smith
Solo performer/writer Carlyle Brown based this piece on his travels in West
Africa and tells the story of his search for an African identity. Set in
1981, Brown ventures on a journey that takes him through Senegal, Mali,
Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. From deep bush to the
corridors of the African elite, he finds friendship, generosity, poverty,
wondrous beauty, and civil war.
As his adventures unfold, he finds himself on the boundary of the
African-American hyphen where the question arises: How much of him is
African and how much is American? Please support this out-of-towner who
Variety magazine has compared to such amazing performers as Lily Tomlin and
Spalding Gray.

On March 29th, we are starting an "Intro to the First Take Method" class that
Kathy McGraw and myself will be co-teaching in San Francisco.
We know about the industry, both the art and the business side of it, because
we work in the industry full time. Here' are some of our credentials:
Kathy McGraw has been with Nancy Berwid since the beginning and she has a
solid body of work to prove it: recurring roles on "ER," and "Dragnet," been on
episodes of "Boston Public" and "Strong Medicine" and had roles in films like "
Sweet November" and "Bee Seasons" as well as lead roles in a slew of a whole
bunch of other stuff.
As for me, I've been studying with Nancy for about a year and a half and have
since been signed at one of the top agencies in SF as well as a kick butt
theatrical agent in Los Angeles. I've gotten the lead roles in upcomng feature
films like, "American Yearbook," (we were mentioned in an ariticle in the
Chronicle 2 weeks ago!), and "Counting the Days", as well as a role in a feature
film starring Gary Busey called, "The Shadowlands."
So if you want to learn about the method that makes Nancy's actors so
successful, send me an email or give me a call!
This may be the last chance to get into a First Take class for a while (no
kidding)!

The Renegade Theatre Experiment will be holding open auditions for the
West Coast Premiere of Goner (by Brian Parks, dir: Peter Canavese) and the
World Premiere of Conserving Melissa (by Tom Jacobson, dir: Megan Murphy)
on April 18, 2004.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For Goner, we are seeking 1M (25-40), 1M (25-35), 1M (30-40), 2M (45-60),

Goner is a frenetic black comedy that combines political intrigue,
hospital drama, and screwball comedy resulting in a piece that The
Guardian (August 8, 2002) describes as "American satire at its sick,
twisted best. It is set in a hospital, where the US president has been
taken after an assassination attempt. Watching it is like vomiting acid in
the wind and finding it comes back to hit you full in the face."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For Conserving Melissa, we are seeking 1F (18-35), 1F (25-45) and 2M
(25-45), All roles available. Non-traditional casting.
In Conserving Melissa, a conservator's obsession with the Egyptian mummy

Three Northern California Medical Schools (Stanford, UCSF and UC
Davis) are looking for Caucasian male actors age 50+ to work as
Standardized Patients for an interactive role-playing clinical skills exam
for medical students. Standardized Patients are healthy people who are
trained to play the role of a patient suffering from a specific medical
condition. Medical students interview and perform basic physical exam
maneuvers (taking blood pressure, measuring pulse rate, listening to heart
and lungs, etc.) on Standardized Patients during examinations to
demonstrate student mastery of basic clinical skills. Students are graded
on both their medical knowledge (Are they asking the right questions to
arrive at an appropriate diagnosis?) and their bedside manner (Can they
treat patients with sensitivity and respect?)
We need people who are willing to work at all three schools. Training will
take place in April and the project will run:
At UCSF late May-Early June
At Davis in July
At Stanford in Sept.
Work days range from 3-5 hours. Each actor will work approximately 20 days
between April and Sept. (There will be almost no work in Aug)
If you are willing to travel to all three schools and are interested in
finding out more about this project, please email your headshot and resume
to julianne@stanford.edu or send mail to:

Hello guys! Check this out:
Sandi Logan is coming up on the weekend of April 17th and 18th!!!
Some casting directors just let you read, say thank you and have no feedback=
=20
at all for you...(and frustrate the heck out of you - because you wonder wha=
t=20
you did wrong :-) or what worked in the audition )...thank goodness Sandi=20
Logan is NOT one of those casting directors. She is currently casting Boomto=
wn and=20
Monk, and has brought in one of our very own actors, Hector Bustamonte in=20
several times for Boomtown and has even cast him in "Monk."As a casting dire=
ctor,=20
she has worked on: Dead Lawyers (2004) (TV) (filming), Pontormo , Lyon's Den=
,=20
, "Boomtown"=A0 , "Monk"=A0 And she has years of experience as a casting=20
associate on shows like: Firestarter 2: Rekindled , Earth Angels, "Tick, The=
" , " Popu
lar" (1999) , " Judging Amy"=A0 ,"Payne" (1999) , "Brother's Keeper" (1998)=20=
,=20
"Tom Show, The" (1997) , "Something So Right" (1996) , and others.
>From what I hear about Sandi Logan, we're really lucky to have her as a=20
guest. In fact, the class is already half-full from word of mouth alone, so=20=
if you=20
are even thinking about coming, let me know so I can get the info out to you=
=20
on how to hold a spot in the class...
As always,=A0 the morning sessions will consist of lecture and question and=20
answer. Actors will have to the opportunity to find our ask advice about=20
everything from giving yourself an edge over the competition, getting good h=
ead-shots,=20
constructing an effective resume, preparing for auditions and getting into=20
them, staying visible, to what the best way to approach them is. The afterno=
ons=20
will consist of coaching actors in scene work, so you'll get to hear feedbac=
k=20
as well. This will be team taught with Nancy Berwid.=20
Space in all First Take weekly and weekend classes is limited and=20
registration is done on a first come, first served basis.=A0 Contact us imme=
diately to find=20
out the details about this class and how to register.=20

* Again to reiterate: This is not a job interview or audition. =A0 The prese=
nce=20
of a casting director or agent is neither a guarantee nor a promise of=20
employment. =A0 The intent of the class is solely educational. =A0 Attending=
a Workshop=20
is not a way to obtain employment as an actor. =A0 Such contact as you may h=
ave=20
with a casting director or agent at a workshop rarely results in any further=
=20
contact with that casting director or any company affiliated with that casti=
ng=20
director.
That was the legalese :-)...just so you know...

THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE TO GET INTO A FIRST TAKE CLASS UNTIL=20
MID-MAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
New gossip: Jeff Francisco went down for a SERIES REGULAR role in an untitle=
d=20
pilot, and Buffy Charlet went in for a role on the upcoming FEATURE film=20
DEATH VALLEY.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys -=20
Allen Rowe got called in for his first major LA audition for a SERIES REGULA=
R=20
ROLE this week - which show, I forgot, but I'll let you guys know...and Lisa=
=20
Oh, Angelina Cheng and myself got called in for LEAD roles in the upcoming R=
ob=20
Marshall/Steven Speilberg adapataion of "Memoirs of a Geisha." There's more,=
=20
but I can't think of it off the top of my head...
We are so rockin it!!!
So if you want to learn how we "work it" :-), we'll be starting up our new=20
"Intro to the First Take Method" class on March 28th in SF. It'll be held on=
=20
Sunday evenings near Union Square. You'll learn the fundamentals of the meth=
od=20
that Nancy teaches and we can answer your questions about the business side=20=
of=20
acting as well. We are offering the introduction classes at a lower rate tha=
n=20
the regular 8 week audition courses. The classes will be co-taught by Kathy=20
McGraw (ER, Bee Seasons, Sweet November, Boston Public, Dragnet, Strong Medi=
cine)=20
and myself (email girl, American Yearbook, Counting the=20
Days).=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=20
If you have not yet heard about this class, it is specifically geared toward=
=20
the Film and TV acting and audition process.=A0 Its main focus is to teach=20
actors of all levels to learn how to analyze scripts and make the audition=20
successful without prior rehearsal with a scene partner, just as it would ha=
ppen in an=20
audition situation. As a student, you will be challenged to look at scripts=20
in a new way that will help you to identify with them and make them more rea=
l=20
for you.=A0=20
So if you're new to acting or just want to learn the method that First Take=20
actors use or.... just want a warm fuzzy introduction to the business, let m=

Some of Sanford Meisner's students include: Robert Duvall, Joanne =

About the technique
The Meisner technique teaches one to: be in the moment, get out of your =

explore your inner craft, have fun and play in the moment, listen, =

About the teacher -
Christy English - Butchers is a Los Angeles actress/director who studied =

Bequia for a month with Sandy. Christy had the privilege to teach the =
technique in Los Angeles. She is now teaching in San Jose, Oakland and =
San Francisco. Christy moved to the Bay area to direct full time. She =
shot two films in the past couple years, the last was a film about =
teenagers and their struggles. She is very knowledgeable about the =
industry and is open to answering any questions.
Quotes-
On Directing-

She has a great understanding of how to communicate with actors, =
combined with a gentleness & true knowledge of the craft."=20

=20
On Teaching
"Coming from New York City to the San Francisco Bay Area, I had a =
prejudice that any acting class I took here would be a Mickey Mouse kind =
of class. I was wrong. Christy oversees her students with such =
authority and serene confidence that slacking off just isn't in the =
picture. From the first second of my first class I was immediately =
challenged and emotionally engaged. Christy's firm understanding and =
application of Meisner's technique made those well-known phrases like =
"be in the moment," "be truthful," and "commit" become consistently =
alive and tangible, rather than sporadic, evasive episodes. You travel =
a lifetime in two and a half hours. You've just got to be there to know =
what that feels like." =20

Bay Area, I had a prejudice that =
any acting=20
class I took here would be a Mickey Mouse kind of class. I was=20
wrong. Christy oversees her students with such authority and =
serene=20
confidence that slacking off just isn't in the picture.=20
From the first second of my first class I was =
immediately=20
challenged and emotionally engaged. Christy's firm understanding =

application of Meisner's technique made those well-known phrases =

"be =

tangible, rather than sporadic, evasive episodes. You =

that feels like.=94

Hey guys!!!
New news: Olivia Horoskho went in for a supporting role on the upcoming=20
feature film "Death Tunnel" and ended up reading for one of the leads in the=
film!
The demand for First Take classes is growing every day...seriously guys, it'=
s=20
insane. Nancy's been teaching her method of working for about 3 years now an=
d=20
we are seeing just the beginnings of her students successes. Not only have=20
her students been able to make a smooth transistion from SF to the LA Market=
(or=20
even work the LA Market from SF), but we've had students get their SAG cards=
=20
on major prime time shows like ER (Dwana White), book recurring roles on maj=
or=20
TV shows like ER and Dragnet (Kathy McGraw), book great roles on major budge=
t=20
feature films (Kathy McGraw, Bee Seasons; Hector Bustamonte, Hostage), plus=20
soooooo many students that have been called in and signed by LA theatrical=20
agencies. The results really testify to the method that First Take actors us=
e in=20
approaching acting. Even casting directors and agents want to AUDIT her=20
classes, because they want to know what makes her actors so darn competitive=
in the=20
industry...
It looks like we may have *one* or *two* spots available for Nancy's next=20
evening SF class (April 13th) but we have a wait list going which you can ge=
t on=20
in the order we receive deposits for the class. (First Take does not cash yo=
ur=20
check until you actually get a spot.) Because of all the interest and demand=
=20
for Nancy's classes,=A0 we are going to start having people who want to get=20=
into=20
Nancy's class DIRECTLY (without taking the Intro to the First Take Method=20
Class) audition for a spot ...
Otherwise, we have spots available in the intro class that starts on March=20
28th (Sundays, from 6-9). The Intro class kind of primes you for Nancy's=20
classes. Most of us in Nancy's 8 week classes are continuing students (which=
is why=20
there are only one or two spots that open up each session, if any...) and it=
=20
takes a while for people who aren't familiar with the way we work to get the=
=20
hang of it... even if you've had a lot of training in the past, we work real=
ly=20
differently than most schools. We'll be giving the people who are in the Int=
ro=20
class priority over anyone else. So I guess the hiearchy for spots in Nancy'=
s=20
class- if you can call it that - goes:
Continuing students (they have the first four weeks of class to hold their=20
spot)
Intro students that are ready to move on (they get the spots that are open,=20
if any)
Wait List people (who still need to audition)...
If you have not yet heard about our Film/Tv class, it is specifically geared=
=20
toward the Film and TV acting and audition process.=A0 Its main focus is to=20
teach actors of all levels to learn how to analyze scripts and make the audi=
tion=20
successful without prior rehearsal with a scene partner, just as it would=20
happen in an audition situation.
As a student, you will be challenged to look at scripts in a new way that=20
will help you to identify with them and make them more real for you.=A0 As y=
ou=20
progress through the class, we provide personalized coaching to help you imp=
rove=20
your audition skills.=A0 This is essential in that it will help you to learn=
"How=20
to get the job!"=A0( career counseling, self-marketing, and networking advic=
e=20
dealing with the "in's and out's" of the Film and TV market ).
So if you are thinking about taking one of our classes or you want to come i=
n=20
and audit a class (or schedule an audition), please contact me! With the way=
=20
things are going, I'd do it sooner than later!!

C.A.F.E. and Off-Market Theater are offering a one-day Acting for Sketch
Artists workshop with local teacher and director, Cris Cassell.
In your sketch comedy, would you like to:

Hello All,
I'm booking Monday Night Marsh for the spring/summer, May through August.
At Monday Night Marsh you can perform anything from an excerpt from a solo
or dramatic ensemble piece, a wedding toast, contortion, song or dance. As
usual, I'd like to see a short paragraph about the piece you intend to
perform. Please limit your piece to 15 minutes and be able to perform it off
book.
Write me to find out what dates are available. I'd also like you to send
your phone number so that I can call you and discuss scheduling and other
logistics of your performance.
Please respond by April 5.
Thank you,
Deborah
P.S. We still don't allow the use of fire on our stage. Showing skin is
okay.

We all know landing an audition isn't just about memorizing the text. It's about preparation, attitude, and conduct from the moment you make your audition reservation until you exit the building. Present your monologue from entrance to exit, role-play audition scenarios and leave prepared to handle the speed bumps of local auditions.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
=20
Writing plays is like creating an architect's blueprint: a map for a
three-dimensional dynamic experience, rather than a literary product
that is complete on the page. How can we write in ways that fully seize
the live and time-based quality of performance? How can we integrate
the power of image and body with the poetics of a language designed to
be spoken aloud?
=20
In this "bootcamp" style workshop, each student will write a new short
play through a series of guided writing exercises designed to create
vivid theatrical texts that address the physical language of the stage.
Students will also share and give feedback on their work in a structured
and supportive environment. The final class will include a showcase of
excerpts of the new plays read by professional actors. In addition,
Christine will provide a list of suggested reading materials she has
found useful in her work.
=20
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
=20
Originally from Australia, CHRISTINE EVANS has been produced
internationally as well as all over America. She is currently a
resident playwright at University of San Francisco, where Roberto Varea
(director) and the Theater and Social Justice program will produce the
world premiere of her new play, The Doll Hospital (inspired by The
Trojan Women) at USF and at Brava! Her beautifully lyric play Slow
Falling Bird was presented in the 2003 Bay Area Playwrights Festival and
will receive its premiere production with Crowded Fire Theatre Company
in 2005. She has been awarded a Fulbright Award in Visual and
Performing Arts, a Macdowell Colony Fellowship, and Brown's 2001 Weston
Award (Best Graduate Play). Her other plays include Mothergun, All
Souls=B9 Day, My Vicious Angel, Weightless and Pussy Boy. Production
credits include Perishable Theatre=B9s International Women=B9s =
Playwriting
Festival (WPF), which Christine won in 2001 and 2002; the Samuel French
One-Act Play Festival; the Lincoln Directors' Lab at HERE, NYC; and the
Adelaide International Festival of the Arts in 2000, where her play My
Vicious Angel was nominated for five literary awards and was also staged
at Belvoir St. Theatre (Sydney). Christine holds an MFA (Playwriting)
from Brown, where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Theatre and

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Writing plays is like creating an architect's =
blueprint: a
map for a three-dimensional dynamic experience, rather than a literary =
product
that is complete on the page.=A0 How can we write in ways that fully =
seize the
live and time-based quality of performance?=A0 How can we integrate the =
power of
image and body with the poetics of a language designed to be spoken =
aloud?
In this "bootcamp" style workshop, each =
student
will write a new short play through a series of guided writing exercises
designed to create vivid theatrical texts that address the physical =
language of
the stage.=A0 Students will also share and give feedback on their work =
in a
structured and supportive environment.=A0 The final class will include a =
showcase
of excerpts of the new plays read by professional actors.=A0 In =
addition,
Christine will provide a list of suggested reading materials she has =
found
useful in her work.

Hi all,
Seydways Studio is offering it's next Trigger Approach class beginning
April 25th. It's already filling up, so sign up early if you're
interested. Here's the info:
Trigger Approach Class
Instructor: Janis Bergmann
Class Time/Days: Sundays, 6:00pm - 10:00pm
April 25 - May 30
Cost: 6-week session for $300.00
Location: The SF Playhouse, 356 Sutter Street @ Powell, San Francisco
To enroll or get more info: contact Janis Bergmann at bergmann8@juno.com,
or call (650) 949-7012
Class size is limited to 12 / a $50 deposit is required to hold a spot
The trigger approach is a technique originally designed by Richard Seyd
as a way of breaking down text, thought by thought, to enable the actor
to live more authentically and spontaneously in the moment during
performance. All actors are told that "being in the moment" is
important, but no one teaches the actor how to be in the moment
effortlessly. The trigger approach is designed to give the actor a
working methodology for achieving that performance state.
The class will include an initial session with Richard Seyd, and will
continue with an in depth exploration of the approach through rehearsal
and performance of an assigned scene. There will also be improv work and
exercises to more fully develop spontaneity, relaxation, imagination and
character.

The Renegade Theatre Experiment (www.renegadetheatre.com) will be
holding open auditions for the West Coast Premiere of Goner
(by Brian Parks, dir: Peter Canavese) and the World Premiere of
Conserving Melissa (by Tom Jacobson, dir: Megan Murphy) on April 18, 2004.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For Goner, we are seeking 1M (25-40), 1M (25-35), 1M (30-40), 2M (45-
60), 1F (18-30) and 1F (25-40). All roles available. Non-traditional
casting.
Goner is a frenetic black comedy that combines political intrigue,
hospital drama, and screwball comedy resulting in a piece that The
Guardian (August 8, 2002) describes as "American satire at its sick,
twisted best. It is set in a hospital, where the US president has
been taken after an assassination attempt. Watching it is like
vomiting acid in the wind and finding it comes back to hit you full
in the face."
This will be the West Coast Premiere for Goner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For Conserving Melissa, we are seeking 1F (18-35), 1F (25-45) and 2M
(25-45), All roles available. Non-traditional casting.
In Conserving Melissa, a conservator's obsession with the Egyptian
mummy she's restoring threatens her impending marriage in this funny
romance cursed with confusion. You never really know someone till
they're dead....
This will be the World Premiere of Conserving Melissa.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Prepare one 1-2 minute comedic monologue. Monologues not to exceed 2
minutes. Possible cold read from script. Please bring headshot and
resume. No pay. Non-AEA.
Auditions: 4/18/04 12:30PM-4:00PM. (Please be prepared to stay past
your scheduled appointment).
Goner Rehearsals: 4/26-6/9.
Goner Performances: 6/10-6/13, 6/17-6/20, 6/24-6/26.
Melissa Script Workshopping: 4/26-6/13 (scheduled as needed).
Melissa Rehearsals: 6/14-7/28.
Melissa Performances: 7/29-8/1, 8/5-8/8, 8/12-8/14.
Appointment/Info: rte@renegadetheatre.com or (408) 351-4440

Santa Clara.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
Regards,
RTE
