AUDITIONS NUNSENSE A-MEN! AND TOMFOOLERY IN MAY

OpenStage Repertory Theater will hold auditions Saturday, May 15th from
9:00 AM to Noon, and Monday, May 17th from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM for both
its summer production of Nunsense A-Men!, an all-male version of Dan
Goggin's hilarious musical Nunsense, and its fall production of
Tomfoolery, a satirical revue based on the words and music of Tom
Lehrer.

Callbacks are Tuesday, May 18th at 7:00 PM. All auditions will be held
at 250 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, just two blocks from the Civic
Center. Nunsense A-Men! is directed by OpenStage Repertory Theater
artistic director Jon Rosen and produced by Barbara Rosen. Local pianist
and composer David Manley is the musical director and Alexandra
Kaprielian will handle choreography. Rehearsals start on Wednesday, May
19th. The show opens Saturday, June 26th and runs through Sunday, August
1st. Performances are at the Shelton Theater, 533 Sutter Street in San
Francisco (near Powell in the heart of the theater district) on
Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 PM and Sunday at 2:00 PM.

There are 5 male roles in Nunsense A-Men!, all age 21 and up:

Sister Mary Regina, the Reverend Mother Superior

Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices and a closeted soul-singer

Sister Robert Anne, a tough Jersey-accented chauffeur who longs for the
stage

Sister Mary Amnesia, an aspiring country-western singer who has lost her
memory

Sister Mary Leo, a novice who hopes to become the first nun-ballerina

For Tomfoolery, 3 males and 2 females (there are no specific parts in
this revue) will be cast, with an age range from 21 and up.

All roles are intended for adults. Vocal, comedic acting ability and
reasonable dance movement ability are principal requirements for both
productions. Alternative casting will be considered and diverse ethnic
backgrounds are encouraged to audition.

There will be modest stipends (up to $25 per performance based on ticket
sales) for all performers. Please note that this both shows are
non-Equity production.=20

Performers should be prepared to sing a show tune (upbeat number).
Please bring sheet music or a music-only cassette or CD (no recorded
vocals) for song accompaniment. Tapes should be cued to the start of the
song. A piano accompanist will be provided (please provide music in the
key you need it played). Performers may be asked to cold read from the
script of either show. All performers will be expected to learn a short
dance step at the audition and demonstrate it. Please dress accordingly.

Auditions are by appointment only and will be arranged in 30-minute
blocks, with up to 6 appointments scheduled per block. Vocal and acting
auditions will be private. Dance auditions will be in a group. You may
