AUDITION FOR NEW OPERA

Audition to cast a soprano, two mezzo sopranos, and an understudy, will =
be held at 7:00 P.M.. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 12770 Saratoga =
Avenue,Saratoga, California 95070 on October 26, 2004. Singers unable to =
attend may be considered by submitting recordings, preferably video and =
sung in English, along with resume and statement of vocal range. Those =
appearing should bring a prepared piece from the English repertoire.=20

This is a paid engagement.

Mrs. Carroll's Alice, libretto and music by Robert Arnold Hall, is a =
multimedia minichamber opera. By utilizing modern multimedia art and =
technology and only four performers, this work is intended to reach very =
diverse audiences with low cost productions in small venues. Rehearsals =
start March 28, 2005, and premier performances will be on April 9, 10, =
16, 17, 2005, all at San Francisco's Randall Museum Theater. This work =
could be ground breaking for the future staging of many operas in a =
world of technological wizardry, and big opera deficits.

Each singer, performing several characters, provided with virtual =
scenery and masks, will interact with projected motion graphics, and =
sound effects. This enables effective presentation of such events as =
changes in Alice's size and movement that are unfeasible to stage in =
conventional opera.=20

The composer is also the Producer of the premier. Don Cate, experienced =
with hundreds of productions, is the Stage Director. Barbara Day Turner, =
Director of the San Jose Chamber Orchestra and widely experienced =
director of opera, will be the Musical Director. Illustrations are by =
Christine Desrosiers, and animations by George Mauro are based on these. =
Regina Cate, Professor of Costume at California Hayward State =
University, will provide costumes and make masks for each role.

Information, images, and music excerpts are on http://www.music-hall.net

Notification of intention to appear, resume (in email body, not =
attachment), and statement of vocal range should be sent, and no later =
than October 18, 2004, if possible, to Robert Arnold Hall, 16162 Lilac =
Lane, Los Gatos CA 95032, 408-358-2283, rahcomp@comcast.net.
