Narnia, a musical based on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.=20
S. Lewis
A magical, allegorical world populated by creatures of myth and=20
fantasy, ruled over by Aslan, the Great Lion into which four English=20
children find themselves caught up in the battle between Good and Evil.
Auditions: November 7th from 3-6pm, November 8th and 9th from 7-9pm.=20
Callbacks November 11th from 7-9pm.
Location: DLOC Firehouse (1948 Oak Park Blvd., Pleasant Hill, CA 94523)
Performances: April 8,9,10,15,16,17,22,23 and 24 at Del Valle Theatre,=20=

Prep: Speaking parts: 1 minute prepared contemporary monologue as well=20=
as 16 to 32 measures of a song, accompanist provided, no tapes or a=20
capella. Chorus only parts: 32 measures of a song, accompanist=20
provided. Dancers: 1-2 minute prepared dance piece, modern, jazz or=20
ballet. Callbacks will be cold read, provided song and taught dance.
Other: Non AEA. No pay. Rehearsals begin on January 8th and will run=20=
Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings and Saturday days. Not all cast=20
will need to attend every rehearsal. BBC English accent needed for=20
Pevensie children, Professor Digory and Mrs. MacReady.

Principle Roles
White Stag: Strong solo dancer, mystical and elusive quality, male or=20
female
Peter: Eldest child, serious and fair-minded, used to keeping the=20
peace between his squabbling siblings. Baritone voice, some dancing,=20
stage fighting. (Aged 15-20)
Susan: Second eldest child, bossy of her younger sibs, not very=20
adventurous and soft hearted. Alto or Soprano, some dancing, stage=20
fighting. (Aged 14-19)
Edmund: Second youngest child, jealous of Peter and Susan, enjoys=20
picking on his little sister Lucy. Baritone voice, some dancing, stage=20=
fighting. (Aged 13-17)
Lucy: Youngest child, very strong sense of right and wrong, soft=20
hearted with great faith in Aslan. Alto or Soprano voice, some=20
dancing, stage fighting. (Aged 10-15)
Professor Digory: Eccentric uncle to the Pevensie children who still=20
finds the magic and joy in life. Baritone voice, some dancing. (Aged=20
25-50) Could be double cast as Aslan.
Aslan: Lion of Narnia. Strong, confidant and compassionate male with=20
excellent baritone voice, some dancing. (Aged 25-45)
Mrs. MacReady: Housekeeper for Professor Digory Kirke, strict,=20
menacing looking, no nonsense persona. (Aged 25-50) Could be double=20
cast as White Witch.
White Witch: Former queen of Charn, conquered Narnia. Cold, regal=20
bearing with an icy temper. Alto voice, some dancing. (Aged 25-45)
Tumnus: Narnian fawn (half man, half goat) torn between doing what is=20=
right and fear of the Witch. Tenor or Baritone voice, some dancing. =20
(Aged 20-45)
Dwarf: Henchman to the Witch, coarse, rough and unpleasant fellow. =20
Baritone voice, some dancing, stage fighting. (Aged 20-50)
Mrs. Beaver: Matronly beaver, picks on her husband, firm yet gentle. =20
Cockney accent, Alto or 2nd Soprano voice, some dancing, stage=20
fighting. (Aged 35-65)
Mr. Beaver: A bit pompous, feels henpecked, protective. Cockney=20
accent. Baritone or Bass voice, some dancing, stage fighting. (Aged=20
35-65)
Fenris Ulf: Head of the Narnia Secret Police, devoted to the Witch,=20
authoritative, cruel streak. Baritone voice, some dancing, stage=20
fighting. (Aged 30-45)
Father Christmas: Warm, charming, magnanimous and full of hope. =20
Baritone voice, some dancing. (Aged 35-50)
Various Narnia creatures and Cruelies also needed, minimal speaking=20
parts with solo singing lines, choral singing, fight choreography and=20
dancing.
