Dear friends--
I'd like to invite you to see the new play premiering at the Pear Avenue
Theatre, an intriguing historical fiction that imagines a meeting
between Jack
London and Douglas MacArthur as they both took part in the U.S.
invasion of Veracruz, Mexico, in 1914-- London was a reporter for
Collier's, already famous for his adventure novels, and MacArthur was a
young army captain looking to launch his career. The play weaves a
fascinating and moving tale of betrayal and the seduction of power, and
is surprisingly timely, revealing uncanny parallels between history and
today.
For members of this list, there's a Pay-what-you-can preview on
Thursday, Sept. 16, at 8:00 pm-- I would advise you to call ahead
for a reservation as this is likely to sell out.
Also, we always give members of TBA and BAANG a discount
on the usual ticket price-- mention it when you call in, or print
out a copy of this e-mail and present it at the door.
Ticket prices for Thurs/Sun = $15.genl/$10.sr,std,TBA,BAANG
and for Fri/Sat = $20.genl/$15.sr, std,TBA,BAANG
Opening night is already sold out!
I hope you'll have a chance to see it over the four weeks it will run,
from Sept. 17 to Oct. 10. If you haven't been to the Pear before,
you're in for a treat-- it's a wonderful, intimate space-- only 40 seats
in the house-- so that you feel yourself right in the action. If you
have
been there, then you know the necessity of getting tickets in advance--
the last two weekends especially are sure to sell out.
The show features Tom Ammon, Kathleen Brower, Helena G. Clarkson,
Holli Hornlien*, Mark D. Messersmith*, Ed Robinson, Jack Starr, and
Ron Talbot. I'm directing, with Robyn Winslow assistant directing.

Whenever you see it, I can guarantee you a thought-provoking and moving
evening of theatre--
All the best,
Jeanie
