GREASE IS THE WORD!
Ray of Light Theatre announces a change in the SF Summerstage
Production originally scheduled for 2005. Due to a licensing conflict
with West Side Story, ROLT will now be presenting the hit musical
Grease! this summer. Originally staged as a five-hour amateur
production in a Chicago trolley barn, Grease took a satirical look at
the dress, manners, morals, and music of teenagers at the beginning of
the rock and roll era. The plot revolves primarily around the
attraction between greaser Danny Zuko and the virtuous Sandy
Dumbrowski. The show spawned such musical hits as "Summer Nights,"
"Greased Lightning," and "Beauty School Dropout." Grease offers a wide
range of roles for both men and women.
Ray of Light Theatre will present the San Francisco Summerstage
production on August 12-21 at the beautiful Presentation Theatre.
