Looking for a voiceover academy for the South Bay that offers professional training and opportunities to record in a high tech studio environment? Well, now we have a place for you at the WebTone VoxBox. VoxBox offers classes to introduce you to the various aspects of the voiceover industry  from the business end to the performing end. Teachers Greg Weber and Irene Trapp met in the Fremont studios of the Learning Company, performing as singing caterpillars for a Reader Rabbit product. They have been fast friends ever since and now they come together to share from their collective experiences in the voiceover industry to teach others how to get into the biz. 

Irene Trapp  VoxBox founder, voice actor, music director, violist, and vocalist. She has been recording for over 25 years and has performed on stage as well as in the studio. Her credits include singing and dancing at Great America, playing for the San Jose Symphony, providing character voices for Pizza Time Theatre, Agapeland, The Learning Company, and several commercials for local Bay Area companies. One of her specialties has been working with children in the studio. 

Greg Weber  WebTone founder, director, voice actor, producer, vocalist, and drummer. Gregs voice can be heard on hundreds of products from Reader Rabbit to Sega games. As a director, hes valued by many of the best producers in the bay area, and sought after by up-and-coming voice talent for career guidance. He comes with over ten years of experience on both sides of the sound booth window. With his charismatic personality and high energy, students will enjoy learning about the entertainment industry. 

Steve Duell, a San Jose State Radio TV & Film graduate, is the general manager of Webtone. In his four years there, hes served in many roles, from editor to sound designer, and talent director to copywriter. His sound design has appeared on dozens of games, cd-roms, and radio spots. Steves technical knowledge of the studio is complimented by his critical ear and creative knack for interpreting copy. 

Location: WebTone is a high tech studio located in Los Gatos. For the past ten years, WebTone has been one of the premiere audio facilities to serve the video game and interactive software industry in the Bay Area. Our clients include Sega, EA, Atari, and Disney, just to name a few. We offer high end recording, editing services, assist in game development, talent management, focused casting, award winning directing, and some of the hottest, most creative sound and music design this side of nowhere. WebTone also has all you need to feel right at home: clean bathrooms, a full kitchen, conference room, and shopping right across the street where you can make a run during breaks for your favorite espresso and a sandwich. 

Vox Blox 101  Whats In the Box? 

Sit down with Greg Weber and Irene Trapp and get an overview of what opportunities are available for voice actors. Hear samples of commercials, video games, animation, and industry presentations using a wide range of voice acting. If you are interested in pursuing a career in voiceover, then we will move you through a series of classes to help you reach your goal. Class session is three hours. Fee is $75.

Vox Blox 201  Finding Your Box (prerequisite to 301)

There are a wide range of opportunities for voice actors in the Bay Area and beyond. To be successful in any audition, an actor must know their vocal strengths. You will be recorded reading a variety of different scripts - and critiqued on what skills you need to develop in order to gain the attention of the producers and directors casting these jobs. Do you have a million dollar voice? Maybe we can help you find out. Fee is $100 for a one-hour session  students will receive a CD of their session.For an appointment, please call 408-371-0408 and ask for Irene.  



Vox Blox 301  Entering the Box 

After we have found the elements that make up your box, this class will teach you how to approach different copy in an audition. Your acting skills will be developed, mic techniques will be taught - and you will learn how to listen to your director -  how to make the script your own. Students will practice on monologues and different dialogs, taking turns recording in the sound booth.  Performances will be reviewed and feedback will be given to each actor.  Class session is nine hours. Fee is $300. (VoxBox 201 is a prerequisite to this class)Friday from 6:00-9:00PM and Saturday 10:00AM-4:30PM (includes lunch break)
