Saturday, April 2, 2 - 5PM 

Acting for Singers Workshop

Allow the music to inform rather than hinder your ability to be
effortlessly in the moment while singing! This workshop is designed to
help singers more effectively connect to character and situation and
make strong acting choices, while feeling freer to release in to the
music and words. Singers of all levels and backgrounds are welcome, but
you should have some experience and ease with music, and you will need
to choose and prepare your own piece. You can choose to work on a song,
a duet or a short scene from opera or musical theatre. An accompanist
will be provided, please bring your own sheet music in your key. This
workshop will not be focusing on vocal production, breath technique,
diction and so on, but rather on the acting side of performing as a
singer. Workshop leader Bobby Weinapple has been acting, directing and
teaching in the Bay Area since 1988, and has worked with over 40
symphonies around the United States performing Where in the World Is
Carmen San Diego, and is on the faculty at the San Francisco
Conservatory of Music and Seydways Studios. 

Location: San Francisco Playhouse, 588 Sutter Street, Suite #318, San
Francisco. (415) 430-1140 x14. Cost: $35 members/$50 nonmembers. Space
is limited. Suggested experience: All levels and backgrounds are
welcome.
